Evoke personal emotions – directly at the counter
Swiss Cancer League
During Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, the Swiss Cancer League and Swiss Post joined forces to create personal encounters. At the heart of the cross-media campaign was the handing out of pink awareness ribbons at counters, supplemented by mailings and DOOH. This created a sense of closeness, raised awareness and made an emotional impact where people meet during their day-to-day lives.

Our approach
Small, everyday encounters often evoke emotions. During Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, the Swiss Cancer League and Swiss Post took advantage of these moments to create a sense of closeness and raise awareness. With the slogan “Breast cancer affects us all!”, the campaign was aimed at those affected as well as their partners, relatives, friends and colleagues.
To make this closeness tangible, the Swiss Cancer League and Swiss Post used a personal touchpoint combined with the pink breast cancer awareness ribbon as an emotionally charged symbol. In 30 Swiss Post branches, employees handed out awareness ribbons directly to customers visiting the counter and asked for a donation to the Swiss Cancer League at the same time. This was supplemented by DOOH adverts in the same branches and in the retail sector, visually reinforcing the campaign’s message.
The national campaign also included unaddressed PromoPost mailings with donation appeals and addressed donation letters to existing donors. This also focused on emotions: personal testimonials from those affected made the topic approachable and touching.
International Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Around the world throughout October, breast cancer is in the spotlight: campaigns, information drives, events and the pink awareness ribbon highlight the importance of prevention, early detection and solidarity with those affected. During this month, the Swiss Cancer League provides comprehensive information, organizes campaigns throughout Switzerland and supports those affected as well as their families with advisory and support services.
