Successful cross-media sampling campaign

The advertising market and consumer behaviour are in a constant state of flux. Traditional and previously reliable touchpoints for addressing target groups are losing their impact, while new channels and opportunities are constantly emerging. To address these developments, we collaborated with Emmi to create a cross-media sampling campaign that addressed these changes and was adapted to the updated touchpoints. The campaign bolstered customer loyalty and brand awareness in the long term and helped Emmi to bring its products to life.

Our approach

The campaign used mobile ads, social ads, an e-mail newsletter and 35,000 postcards. A total of 15,000 goodie boxes needed to be delivered to customers. As these boxes contained fresh foods such as cheese, yoghurt and iced coffee, the following challenges had to be kept in mind:

  • The parcels had to be shipped within a certain time.
  • The recipients had to receive their boxes quickly so that the fresh food didn‘t spoil.
  • The boxes had to be adapted to fit into mailboxes.

This is how we helped Emmi with different measures across different channels and phases:

Awareness

  • The campaign was spread broadly across mobile ads, social ads and e-mail newsletters in order to generate a lot of interest.
  • The target group was narrowed down through geotargeting.
  • Emmi‘s customer data was verified with Swiss Post‘s address service to guarantee a high delivery rate.

Sampling campaign

  • The goodie boxes were shipped in a coolbox.
  • The size of the coolboxes was adapted so that they would fit into mailboxes. They were branded with an Emmi logo and the slogan “Your moment of pleasure”.
  • Before delivery, the recipient was informed via e-mail, ensuring that the parcels were not left in mailboxes.
  • Deliveries were made early in the morning with the Brot-Post service – where Swiss Post delivers products from local bakeries.
